Instructions for Filing a Petition for an Immigrant Visa
The Consular Section at the American Embassy in Beirut accepts Immigrant Visa petition filings for the spouses, children and parents of American citizens only. Appointments may be made by Sending emails to BeirutIV@state.gov or by sending a fax to 04-543498 immigrant visa section.
Filings are accepted by prior appointment only on Fridays, except the last Friday of each month. Both the petitioner and beneficiary/ies must be present. The following documents must be prepared prior to filing and forms must be completed legibly.
Unsupported petitions and/or poorly completed petition forms will be rejected. These documents are required for each Immigrant Visa petition filing. Documents must be originals, or notarized copies of the original. All non-English documents must be accompanied by sworn translations into English.
- Form I-130 - "Petition for Alien Relative"
- Form G-325 - "Biographic Information" (one for the petitioner and one for the beneficiary; but not required if the beneficiary is a parent or child)
- Evidence of U.S. citizenship for the petitioner (U.S passport)
- Proof of legal name change, if any
- Petitioners holding an American passport, and only a Lebanese identification card (not having a Lebanese passport) must provide a copy of their exit/entry record from the Securite Generale (Lebanese General Security) (as a proof of the last six months residence in Lebanon).
- Petitioners having both American and other nationalities must bring all passports issued to them to the interview (as a proof of the last six months residence in Lebanon).
- Petitioners having only American passports must bring their Lebanese Resident permit to the interview (with a proof of the last six months residence in Lebanon).
- Individual civil record for beneficiary
- Birth certificates (for filings for children)
- Marriage certificate executed and registered by the Lebanese Government
- Divorce certificates for all previous marriages, if any
- Death certificate of late spouse, if any
- Family record, to prove relationship among family members
- One photo of petitioner and Two of beneficiary
- Filing fee of $420 in cash only or the equivalent in Lebanese currency
- Marriage ceremony photos
- Beneficiary’s passport
