U.S. Embassy Staff Clean Up Historic Site
February 2, 2007
American staff of the U.S. Embassy dedicated part of their weekend to cleaning up the historic site of Mouseilha Castle, north of Batron, on Sunday, January 27, 2007. Equipped with work gloves and huge black plastic bags, the American employees spent three hours picking up litter around the area. The activity is the first in a series of community service projects American Embassy staff will carry out this year.
Ambassador Jeffrey D. Feltman explained, “Lebanon is a beautiful country with a rich cultural heritage. The Lebanese people have been generous in offering their friendship to members of the American Embassy staff. Participating in community service projects is one way my staff can show their appreciation for the warm welcome accorded to them by the Lebanese people. I think it also says a lot about the strong relationship between our two peoples and our two countries.”
