Graphic design students work with owners of cottage inns to design promotional materials for their establishments…

Within the context of expanding economic opportunities in rural Lebanon, the U.S. Government assists small tourism establishments in rural areas to promote themselves more effectively and generate income for the entire area. As part of this program, 20 graphic design students from Al-Kafaat Association are working closely with owners of cottage inns to develop websites, logos and promotional brochures for their establishments. This initiative not only helps owners of cottage inns promote their businesses, but also provides students with real life experience by applying their academic knowledge with real clients. More than 35 cottage inns will have promotional materials ready for the summer of 2007, and will be listed under the program's website at http://www.dhiafeeprogram.org/.

This initiative falls under the U.S. Government-funded Developing Hospitality Industry's Abilities - Fostering Economic Expansion (DHIAFEE) program implemented by the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) at a level of $1.7 million over two years. The program aims to improve the quality of cottage inns in rural areas throughout Lebanon, as well as increase the number and quality of qualified persons engaged in the tourism workforce.
