Ambassador Feltman Meets Lebanese Trade Delegation: U.S. Supports Increased Trade with Lebanon

April 2, 2007

nabU.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Jeffrey D. Feltman met with the Lebanon delegation to the National Association for Broadcasters (NAB) Show, March 29, 2006.  The U.S. Embassy’s Commercial Service recruited the 10-member delegation to strengthen trade ties between the United States and Lebanon. The delegation is co-sponsored by the Union of Arab ICT Associations.

NAB is the largest electronics, media and broadcast show in the world.  Held annually it attracts thousands of visitors and is certified by the U.S. Dept of Commerce.  This year the show will take place April 15-19, in Las Vegas.  Several U.S. Embassy Commercial Services in the region, including Egypt, also recruited delegations to attend the show.

Lebanon’s comparative advantages have encouraged an increasing number of foreign companies, including from the United States, to invest in recent years. Lebanon’s free market, dollarized economy and well-educated labor force make it an attractive market for American businesses to consider.  Furthermore, Lebanon is the Middle East leader in broadcasting and media, with Lebanese talents and creativity contributing to the dynamic Arab media market throughout the region.

Members of the delegation are:

  • Naaman Tayyar, Senior Commercial Specialist, U.S. Embassy
  • Nizar Zakka, Secretary General of the Union of Arab ICT Associations
  • Ramzi Najjar, chairman of Strategic Communications Consultants (S2C)
  • Michel Murr, CEO of MTV, General Manager of Rotana and CEO of Studio Vision production house.
  • Youssef Ayoub, CEO of INTAJ Productions.
  • Najib Tawil, CEO of Workshop Productions.
  • Raffi Etiemezian, CEO of Platform Studios.
  • Jihad Ghanem, CEO of GED Broadcasting Equipment
  • Guy Manoukian, composer,
  • Ronny Njeim, owner of Radio Delta.
