Presidential Inaugural Committee 2009 Announces Media Credentialing Process
December 17, 2008 | Washington, D.C.
Press Credentials Can Now Be Requested at http://pic2009.org/mediacredentials
The Presidential Inaugural Committee 2009 (PIC) today opened the credentialing process for coverage of the inaugural events taking place January 18 to January 21 in Washington DC; and January 17 in Philadelphia, PA; Wilmington, DE and Baltimore, MD. For a full description on how to apply for credentials, and additional event details, such as how to request space for satellite or production trucks, please visit http://pic2009.org/mediacredentials.
Submissions must be completed by Monday December 22, 2008 by 12:00 PM EST. Late requests will not be accepted. Space is limited.
Each Inaugural event will require an event-specific credential to gain access. Media organizations interested in covering multiple Inaugural events must apply for each event they wish to cover.
Please note the PIC does not issue credentials for the Swearing-in Ceremony taking place at the U.S. Capitol. Those credentials are issued by the Senate Media Galleries and the deadline for application has already passed.
Requests for PIC media credentials do NOT guarantee access to the event or the space that you request. You must receive written confirmation from the PIC specifying that credentials have been granted. Also, security procedures are being finalized, and updates will be made only to those members of the media with pending and confirmed credentialing requests.
Affiliates should work closely with their networks to avoid duplication of credential and media coverage resource requests for a particular outlet. All requests will be collected online and phone requests and special requests will be directed to the website.
The week before the Inauguration and associated events, the point of contact for each media outlet that have submitted credential requests will receive notification from the PIC Media Credentialing Office via email listing approved applicants and event assignments and the hours and location of the credentialing distribution center.
