U.S. Chargé d’Affaires a. i. Michele J. Sison Visits Northern Lebanon

CDA in NorthU.S. Chargé d’Affaires a. i. Michele J. Sison visited northern Lebanon today and met with the Common Border Forces.  The U.S. Government’s $7 million provided secure communications for the Common Border Forces and is part of a coordinated donor effort supporting Lebanon.

The Chargé said “I am impressed with the efforts being made to secure Lebanon’s borders.   Through secure borders, it will be possible for Lebanese citizens to build better lives.”

Since 2006, the United States has committed over $371 million to the Lebanese Armed Forces.  The United States also supports the Internal Security Forces with a $60 million grant.  The United States is committed to building the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Internal Security Forces and it will continue to support these institutions as they continue their efforts to safeguard the peace, unity and sovereignty of Lebanon.
