U.S. Navy Underwater Explosive Ordinance Training Course for the Lebanese Armed Forces
September 3, 2008
On August 28, members of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) graduated from a ten-day U.S. Navy sponsored training course in Underwater Explosive Ordinance Training. This course is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense and promotes skills sharing between the United States and Lebanon. Training is carried out in accordance with LAF requests and is focused on areas which the LAF leadership identifies.
Since 2006, the United States has committed over $410 million in security assistance to the LAF. With this comprehensive military assistance program, the U.S. Government shows its commitment to supporting and strengthening the LAF, an institution of the Government of Lebanon and the Lebanese people, as it continues to safeguard the peace, unity and sovereignty of Lebanon.
