The U.S. Embassy invites interested candidates to apply to three educational and cultural exchange programs in the United States funded by the U.S. Government.
Young professionals in the performing arts are welcome to apply for two-week Cultural Visitor Program trainings offered in conjunction with the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Lebanese from 19 to 30 years old with previous experience in acting (theater), directing (theater), dance (modern and hip hop) and music performance (classical) are encouraged to apply. The program provides practical training in addition to networking opportunities with professionals. The application deadline is December 15, 2008.
The Near East and South Asia Undergraduate Exchange Program offers an opportunity for students to spend a semester or academic year studying at a U.S. college or university. Students currently in their final year of high school or in the first or second year of university are eligible to apply. Lebanese participants live on campus with American roommates and study in classes with students from the United States and around the world. Approximately 15 students from Lebanon are chosen yearly. Candidates must apply by January 6, 2009.
The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program provides a full scholarship to teachers and graduate students of English to study teaching methodologies and teach Arabic as a foreign language in U.S. universities for an academic year. The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program is open to applicants aged 21-29. This year, six participants from Lebanon are affiliated with prestigious universities throughout the United States. Applications must be received by January 19, 2009.
Persons interested in any of these programs should contact the Public Diplomacy Section at the U.S. Embassy.
