Women in Law Program Website Launch
December 15, 2008
Today, Monday, December 15, 2009 the Women in Law Program (WILpower) at the Academy for Educational Development (AED), funded by the U.S. Department of State Middle East Partnership Initiative is proud to launch the following web site for women in the law: www.womeninlaw.net.
The WILpower program is reaching out to a broad network of young Arab female legal practitioners and law students in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Initially, WILpower participants will be primarily from the Kuwaiti, Lebanese and Palestinian communities. However, WILpower hopes to attract and engage individual female legal practitioners across the MENA region in its online activities: webinars on critical legal issues relevant to the region; discussion forums in which practical skills, resources and knowledge sharing about the law, leadership and entrepreneurship are exchanged; and networking opportunities to support ongoing professional and personal development. In addition, WILpower hopes to scale up its activities in other legal communities in the near future.
If you are a young Arab female legal practitioner or law student interested in joining our online discussion forum, please email us at WILpower and we will be happy to add you to our discussion group.
If you are an expert practitioner and would like to participate as a guest speaker for our webinar series in which we will be discussing commercial law, family law, criminal law, international law, human rights, gender, juvenile justice, leadership, and business or entrepreneurial issues, we would love to hear from you and add you to our online lecture series schedule.
