Alumni Volunteering at the Sports United 3on3 Hoopfast Lebanon tournament

Alumni volunteeringThe U.S. Embassy in Beirut, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) SportsUnited Office, hosted the President of the WNBA, Donna Orender, former NBA star Rolando Blackman and WNBA player Ebony Hoffman in Lebanon as Sports Envoys.

As part of the Sports Diplomacy Program, a “3-on-3 Sports United Hoopfest Lebanon” basketball tournament for youth was organized at the American University of Beirut on October 24th 2009. Several youth Access and YES alumni formed teams and participated in the tournament and a number of adult alumni volunteered to help run the tournament. This was a great opportunity for Alumni to get together and meet.

The Embassy thanks all of the State Alumni who participated for their contributions that made this event very special to more than 300 future basketball stars.
