U.S. Embassy Announces Fulbright English Teachers Fellowship

The U.S. Embassy announces the 2013 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program.  This fellowship offers teachers and graduate students a year at a U.S. college or university to study English and to work as Arabic language teaching assistants.  Candidates from the following disciplines will be considered: English language, journalism or media, English literature, and American studies. Candidates must be teachers or teachers in training in these fields.  During the past seven years, Lebanese fellows have been placed at several prestigious American institutions.
The J. William Fulbright Program sponsors a nine-month, non-degree program at colleges and universities in the United States.  Award recipients teach Arabic and enroll in at least two American studies or teaching methodology classes each semester.   The fellowship covers roundtrip airfare, tuition, health insurance, room and board, and a monthly stipend to cover incidental expenses.  All applicants must be 21 - 29 years old at the time of application, possess a university degree by June 2013, have an excellent academic record, fluency in English, outstanding character, and a desire to use skills gained in the United States to serve Lebanon.
To apply for this program, interested candidates must complete an online application.  If applicants have taken the TOEFL or a similar English proficiency exam, scores should be included. While TOEFL scores are NOT required to apply, finalists will be required to take the TOEFL prior to entering the program (qualifying applicants may apply for fee waivers).
