American Embassy Launches Its Redesigned Website in English and Arabic
April 28, 2005
The U.S. Embassy announces new addresses for its re-designed English and Arabic websites. Effective immediately, the U.S. Embassy Beirut website can be accessed at:
http://lebanon.usembassy.gov
http://beirut.usembassy.gov
http://lebanon.usembassy.gov/lebanon-ar
for the Arabic website.
The U.S. Embassy website aims to provide the Lebanese public with accurate information about its activities and services and about U.S. policy. Information for U.S. citizens resident in Lebanon and for Lebanese who wish to travel to the U.S. can be accessed through the website. Travelers to the U.S. should make the Embassy website a first stop before applying for a visa. The Consular Section has made available the most commonly requested forms for a variety of consular services, including American Citizen registration, report of birth abroad, and replacement of lost Green Cards.
The U.S. Embassy publicizes and promotes its educational and cultural exchange programs on its website. Scholarship competitions are also announced. Applications for the Fulbright and Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship programs can be accessed on the web. Cultural programs and announcements about upcoming events are also included on the Embassy’s website.
For students wishing to study in the U.S., the Embassy’s website provides helpful information and guidance. The U.S. Embassy encourages Lebanese students to consider U.S. colleges and universities to pursue their educational goals. A link to EducationUSA provides information on funding, applying and preparing for study at an accredited U.S. college or university. Student visa information is available on the Consular pages.
In an effort to keep the Lebanese public informed of U.S. policies, particularly its policies towards Lebanon and in the Middle East, the U.S. Embassy updates its website regularly. The website includes daily updated articles from the Department of State’s Washington File. The Washington File includes policy statements and articles by U.S. Government officials on the economy, development issues, politics, and other issues of the day.
Finally, the U.S. Embassy staff can be contacted via the website. The Lebanese public is welcome to write directly to the Embassy at PASBeirut@State.gov. The Embassy welcomes questions, comments and suggestions.
The U.S. Embassy’s former address www.usembassy.gov.lb will redirect users automatically to the new address.
