July 5, 2005
United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Lebanon Mission Director Raouf Youssef presented on July 5, 2005 $23,500 to Saint Sassine Dispensary at the U.S. Embassy in Awkar. Saint Sassine Dispensary is a Lebanese organization working in the field of medical care.
The dispensary serves more than 400 residents in Baskinta and four surrounding villages per year at low cost, offering general medicine, gynecology, ophthalmology, cardiology, pediatrics, laboratory services, as well as the provision of free chronic disease medicines through the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA).
USAID’s assistance to the dispensary covers medical equipment and computers, which will enable the center to perform echography diagnostics, increase the range of blood tests performed and digitally register its files. USAID’s assistance will help expand the center’s services to serve a larger population.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has worked in Lebanon since 1951, funding development projects to benefit Lebanese citizens.
