Third Annual Trade Fair Showcases American Goods and Services

November 7, 2005

United States Ambassador to Lebanon Jeffrey D. Feltman opened “Made in America 2005,” the third annual trade fair promoting U.S. products and services, on Monday, November 7, 2005, at BIEL Center, Beirut, at 5:00 p.m. With 314 U.S. companies participating, this year’s event is bigger than ever and reflects the American business community’s optimism in the economic potential of Lebanon. U.S. Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs Elizabeth Dibble traveled from Washington for the “Made in America” opening. “Made in America 2005” is co-sponsored by the American-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and Raidy Printing Press.

“Made in America 2005” is open to the public on November 8 and 9 from 5:00-10:00 p.m. Entry is free. Companies active in a variety of fields, including information and communication technology, environmental technology, healthcare, agriculture, the automotive industry, construction, household appliances, transportation, and the energy sector will showcase the latest and best in American know how and technology.

In his remarks at the opening of “Made in America 2005,” Ambassador Feltman said: “The United States accords great importance to its relationship with Lebanon, and remains firmly committed to working with the Government and people of Lebanon to realize their dream of a stable, prosperous and democratic country. We recognize the great potential of the private sector to promote economic growth in Lebanon, and thus see an opportunity for American business to participate. We’re proud of America’s dynamic free-market economy and are eager to contribute our “Made in America” energy and know how to increase economic opportunities for the people of both our countries.”
