U.S. Congressman Wolf Visits Beirut

January 19, 2006

During a visit to Lebanon, January 17-19, 2006, U.S. Congressman Frank Wolf paid tribute to Americans and Lebanese who lost their lives in the service of the U.S. Government. The Republican Congressman from Virginia laid a wreath at the U.S. Embassy memorial and thanked U.S. Embassy staff for their service. He said there is strong bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress for Lebanese sovereignty and independence. He met with a wide range of Lebanese during his visit, including Members of Parliament, Prime Minister Siniora, members of the business community, students and academics. Congressman Wolf sits on the House Appropriations Committee which oversees the budgets of all federal agencies, including the Department of State. This is his third visit to Lebanon.
