American Citizens visiting and residing in Lebanon are urged to read the Travel Warning and Consular Information Sheet for Lebanon, and to register at the American Embassy at their earliest convenience."American citizens planning travel to Syria through the Lebanese/Syrian land borders require a valid entry visa issued by the Syrian authorities.

Although American citizens residing in Lebanon may apply for entry visas at the Lebanese/Syrian borders, the American Embassy in Beirut does not recommend this procedure. It is advisable for Americans to obtain a visa through a Syrian Embassy in neighboring countries due to the fact that there is no Syrian embassy in Lebanon."

The American Citizen Services Section receives public phone calls on Mondays and Fridays between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. at: (961-4) 542600 and 543600.  In the event of a genuine emergency, American citizens may phone the Embassy at any time at 961-4-543600. Our fax number is 961-4-544209.
