International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP): Deadline May 11, 2009

The U.S. Embassy invites Lebanese secondary school teachers to apply for a scholarship to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge of the United States through the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP).  Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the ILEP consists of a semester-long (January – June 2010) academic program at an U.S. university and an eight-week internship at a secondary school. Lebanese participants engage with American teachers and students during the internship.  Visits to U.S. cultural sites and academic support are important components of the ILEP.

The application deadline is Monday, May 11, 2009.

The ILEP is a unique opportunity for full-time secondary school teaching professionals with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and five or more years of classroom experience in English as a foreign language, social studies, civics, mathematics or science.

Participants must also continue teaching in Lebanon for at least five years after completion of the program.

This full scholarship includes round-trip airfare between Lebanon and the United States, academic fees, medical insurance, accommodation and an allowance for meals and incidentals.
