Message for US Citizens

July 20, 2010

As mid-term elections approach, the American community will be hosting a U.S. voter registration event in Zahle.  These events are a great way to get information on how to register and vote while overseas. Trained volunteers will be available at each event to assist with completing registration applications and ballot request forms for the upcoming elections.  The Federal Voting Assistance Program continues to recommend that all overseas voting citizens register to vote and requests ballots prior to each federal election to ensure that your voting registration is valid and your information remains up to date.

The next registration event will be on July 31, 2010 from 1100 - 1300 at Hotel Monte Alberto in Zahle.

There is no cost for registration.

There are three items to bring in order to complete the Voter Registration/Absentee Ballot Request form:

  1. Valid US passport
  2. Current mailing address in Lebanon
  3. Last address in the U.S. with city/zip code (and county, if possible).  Ideally, this will be where you last registered/voted in the U.S.   If you've not voted before, you may still register.

While the registration drives mark the fulfillment of a civic right, it should also be a fun get-together.  We look forward to seeing you there!

For more information or to volunteer to assist with voter registrations, please contact VoteBeirut@state.gov.
